Easy-To-Make Tostada Recipe

Here’s a favorite - our yummy, easy-to-make tostada recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 8 corn tortillas

  • 1 lb 93% lean ground turkey

  • 1 bell pepper, diced 

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 1 can refried beans 

  • 1 cup shredded cheese 

  • 1 avocado, sliced

  • Salsa 

  • Salt, pepper, garlic powder and cumin

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Corn Tortillas:

    • Place tortillas on a greased baking sheet and spray top with non-stick. Sprinkle with salt. Bake at 375°F for about 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through. Remove when tortillas turn golden brown.

  2. Cook the Ground Turkey:

    • In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat.

    • Add the ground turkey, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Season with spices.

    • Once the turkey is cooked through, remove it from the skillet and set it aside.

  3. Sauté the Peppers and Onions:

    • In the same skillet, add a little more oil if needed and sauté the diced peppers and onions over medium heat for about 5-6 minutes, until they soften and slightly caramelize.

  4. Assemble the Tostadas:

    • Spread a generous layer of refried beans on each crispy corn tortilla.

    • Top with the cooked ground turkey, sautéed peppers, and onions.

    • Sprinkle with shredded cheese and let it melt (you can place them under a broiler for a minute if you want the cheese to melt quickly).

  5. Add the Toppings:

    • Top each tostada with fresh avocado slices and a spoonful of salsa.
